Lovely Miss Jones Scholarship Brunch

After an unforeseen setback, I’m happy to announce that the Lovely Miss Jones Scolarship Brunch is most definitely still on! December 19th, if you’re in the NYC area, we would love for you to attend this event!

There is no secret that a big issue in many of our communities is difficulties with college tuition, along with other financial obligations while in college. And because of this, Lovely Miss Jones would like to help alleviate that stress off of our youth today. It is important that they go off to school to educate themselves, and further pursue their dreams. However, there are many that are not afforded this opportunity. Through this scholarship fund/brunch, we will be able to award students with a monetary gift that they will be able to use for school. Please help us, as we intend to help this next generation reach their goals.

Tickets are on sale now for only $15. For an afternoon of brunch, entertainment, networking, and speakers, that’s a steal! It’s all for a good cause. Purchase your tickets here. If you can’t make it, please donate to the fund!

Don’t miss out on an opportunity to give back during this holiday season, and be apart of a change in someone else’s life. Support and share!

Special Announcement! Lovely Miss Jones Scholarship Brunch in NYC!

This past August, lovelymissjones.com has reached its one year anniversary, and it’s our hope to help young people with their college tuition. But we need your help in assisting us in presenting a scholarship award to youth who are just entering college, or currently attending college this spring. We strongly believe in education and pushing young people towards their goals. College can be very expensive. There are many semesters where people aren’t sure if they would able to return to school. We would like to alleviate this problem for a student who may be struggling with a tuition bill, or doesn’t know how they will be able to pay for their books.

The Lovely Miss Jones Scholarship Benefit Brunch will be held on December 19th! Join us for an afternoon of delicious brunch, desserts, speakers, and entertainment; along with networking and getting to meet new people. The proceeds from the ticket sales will go directly to the scholarship fund. In which we will be able to give to someone as they take their journey through school.

Please help us as we intend to help young people pursue their dreams! This next generation needs all the help they can get to succeed and be our future leaders!
Early bird tickets are on sale now! Only $10 until Sunday! Purchase your tickets here

More information coming soon!

Good afternoon Lovies,

We are three months away from our One Year Anniversary! Time is really flying. We’ve been working on a few things during this year. Not only have I been writing for different online publication, but there are a few projects in the works as well. We’re moving, growing, and trying our best to create positive change in the lives of others!

In celebration of our one year anniversary, we would like to support a young person (young people) with their financial obligation to college. As I’ve experienced, many of you as well, college can be very expensive. There were many semesters during my college years, that I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to go back to school. I was blessed to have the support of others to help me through my journey. And I’d like to help alleviate the stress on one or two of our young people who are struggling with a tuition bill, or those who may not know how they are going to purchase books.

It’s possible, but we need your help! We’ve started a gofundme, to help raise the money. We need your assistance to push this next generation towards their goals! Please, help us as we intend to help our young people pursue their dreams and become our future leaders!

To donate, visit gofundme.com/LMJScholarship! Thank you in advance for your contributions!

Operation Warm Feet

Are you looking for a way to help our Youth this holiday season? Operation Warm Feet is a holiday mission geared towards helping to warm homeless youth and young adults in our community with style!

Most homeless youth are sometimes left without the basic necessities of life! As we know it is imperative to keep your feet clean and dry. Access to shoes and socks are often limited for youth and young adults living in homeless shelters or on the streets of our communities. Therefore, as socks are such a basic need we need your help this season to help complete the mission of Operation Warm Feet!

GOAL: THIS YEAR OPERATION WARM FEET WOULD LIKE TO GIVE OUT 1,000 PAIRS OF SOCKS TO HOMELESS SHELTERS AND INDIVIDUALS LIVING ON THE STREETS IN NEED!

A Feet Fact: Did you know?
The feet are one of the most vital body parts. The core of your body drops in temperature to compensate for the drop in the limbs. Warm feet means you are well on your way to heating the rest of your body.

Can You Help?—Will You Help?—You can help!
This mission is simple, should you choose to accept. Just collect as many thick, well insulated, stylish, colorful NEW socks as you can, and call us for a pick up or drop location, however all new socks will be accepted.

Are you having a holiday party?
Charge two pair of socks for admission to help the homeless in our community.

To get started just download the flyer: Operation Warm Feet and share it with your co-workers, classmates, colleagues, friends, family or whoever you’d like to participate. The sock collection will be held from December 12 – 20, 2014. If you are interested in hosting a drop off location, would like to arrange a pick up, drop off donations or request more information, send us an email (operationwarmfeet@gmail.com) or call (516) 647-2760. If you would like to send socks from out of town, please ship your socks to: PO BOX 745, Freeport, NY 11520 (Attn: Operation Warm Feet). Thank you!

Warming the lives of others,

Attitude of Generosity

With just days left to the end of the year, what will you do to make it great? What will you do to make an impact on the lives of others? These are a few of the questions I began to ask myself a few months ago, as we draw near to a close of another year. So as I began planning blog posts, I thought about doing a holiday post. As I continued thinking, I realized they’d both go hand in hand. The best thing to do this holiday season is to impact the lives of others.

The holiday season is the time where we realize just how grateful we are for the things that we’ve been given. This is the time where you try your best to spend as much time with your family as possible. You reminisce on the year, and count your blessings. But how many of us think of the lives of those around us? Far and near. There are many people who are struggling and are in need. We may not have it ourselves, but now is the time to consider others. It’s time to have an attitude of generosity.

This is something I’ve been thinking about for quite sometime now. This is something I need to step up and be more conscious of.

As I walked through the mall a few weeks ago, I was stopped by a woman who was looking for people to sponsor children in other countries. Not fully understanding what she was trying to convey, I told her I had to make a stop and I’d come back after. About twenty minutes later, I returned and began to talk with this woman. After she told me more about this program and we had a great conversation, I decided to sponsor a child. A twelve year old girl, named Khady from Senegal. In sponsoring this child, I not only help her, but I’m able to help her family as well. I immediately jumped on the opportunity because I felt a pull to do so. I’d just dropped a good amount of money on replacing my glasses minutes before. Although I most definitely don’t have it all, I thought to myself, if I was able to do that, why can’t I help provide for someone in need. This is just an example of how I decided to have an attitude of generosity. I however, don’t plan to limit myself to just this act. There are many ways to give of yourself. And I’ve found that I myself have been encountered with many opportunities to do so.

Here are a few things that can be done in order to help those around us.
•Donate coats and clothes to your local Salvation Army or shelter. There are many homeless people right in our neighborhoods that need clothes and need to stay warm.
•Volunteer at your local soup kitchens or donate and prepare food for families in need. Help those in your neighborhood.

If you don’t have the money, volunteer your time. Be a resource to someone else. Tutor, mentor, stand up for what’s right. Let’s help create change in a world that seems so gray. With all that’s been going on in the news, it’s clear that the lives of our people aren’t valued. How can we make an impact and create some type of change in America. I tend to shy away from these types of issues, but enough is enough. Our Justice system is clearly broken. I don’t have the answers, aside of prayer. But we can come together and think of positive ways to change or make a dent in the current state of this country. And that’s giving of yourself. Becoming agents of change is a form of generosity. Let’s reflect on what’s going on in society and see how we can make a lifelong impact.
